Folie a’ deux

Mad love,

I fell harder than I realised,

But it was just a Folie a’ deux.

A surge,

Came thundering into my existence

And wiped out all I thought I knew.

This crush

Engulfed our minds in a wondrous fog.

We bathed nude in it for a while…

You drifted,

Whilst I hung in the heady thick of it,

Gulping all I could devour.

I drowned

As you stood by the wayside distracted –

Silent and modestly gone.

You recovered,

Yet you somehow gave false hope in good faith

And I clung tighter than moss to a stone.

Mad love,

I still dwell in false promise of soul love,

This misfortunous Folie for one
